Steve Jobs’s Stanford Speech
Surfing for information on the iPhone I ran into this 2005 commencement speech [ watch | read ] by Steve Jobs, given at Stanford. He included several wonderful snippets, including these:
The only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work — and the only way to do great work is to love what you do.
Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of other’s opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition.
…and perhaps the most poignant:
If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?
He also talks about how being ousted from Apple was good medicine for him, though bitter… that it led to many wonderful consequences, and helped him see his priorities anew. Steve Jobs definitely sees things through his own eyes.
He also makes iPhones.
